Ancestral variety, now cultivated in Pietroasa in an ecological system, it gives strong wines, with much vigour and personality. When young, the wines have a deep purple colour, violet scent and an aroma of red fruits, blackberries and prunes. The taste is balanced, slightly astringent, covered by the force and unctuousness of the wine. When maturated in barrels, the colour acquires ruby hues, the aroma becomes more complex with touches of vanilla, chocolate and pimento. The taste becomes more round and velvety.
